Privacy Policy

This policy explains what FairwaySync collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: we keep what the app needs to work and nothing for advertising.

FairwaySync is operated by Shoot The Moon Tuscarora, Corp., which is responsible for the data described below. "We" and "us" mean that company.

What we collect

• A device identifier — a random id stored on your phone, so you don't have to type your name twice all weekend and so the app knows which events and leagues you're in.
• Account details, if you create an account — a username, a password (stored only as a salted hash), and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the stable identifier and email address they provide. Apple lets you hide your email; the relay address works the same. With Apple we also keep the token Apple issues for your sign-in, only so that deleting your account can end FairwaySync's access to your Apple ID too.
• What you post — display names, scores, group titles, live video (streamed, not recorded by us) and highlight clips you record and post, photos you post to your profile wall or as an event's cover, a profile photo if you add one, and likes and comments on wall posts. Photos are resized on your phone before they're sent, which also removes the location and camera details stored in the file.
• Your rough location, only when you tap Courses near me in a course picker — sent once, rounded to about ten metres, to list the courses closest to you, then forgotten. If our own list has few courses near you, it is passed on, rounded further to about a kilometre and with nothing else about you, to our golf course data provider to find the courses around it. It is never stored against you, never shown to anyone, and the app never reads your location at any other time.
• Notifications — if you turn them on, a push subscription or device token so we can send you standings and messages from your hosts.
• Purchases — if you buy a plan, the store or our payment provider tells us what you bought and until when. We never see card numbers.
• Reports and tickets you send us, with the device id and username attached so we can reply.

How we use it

To run your events and leagues, show live video to the people in them, keep standings, send the notifications you asked for, and unlock the plan you paid for. We don't sell data and we don't use it for advertising.

Who else sees it

• People in your event or league see your display name, scores, streams and clips, and your profile photo if you add one (beside your name, wherever it appears).
• People you have accepted as friends see your username, whether you are live right now, and the clips and photos you choose to put on your profile wall. They can like and comment on those posts. Your likes and comments are seen by the post's owner and the owner's friends, some of whom may not be your friends. Friendship is mutual — both of you have to agree — and either of you can end it or block the other at any time.
• Service providers that make the app work: our hosting provider, a real-time video service that carries live streams, Cloudflare for storing highlight clips and photos, a golf course data provider for course lookups, Google and Apple for sign-in, and Apple, Google and RevenueCat for purchases. Each gets only what it needs for its job.

How long we keep it

Events, leagues and clips stay until the host or the operator deletes them. Deleting your account removes the account, its sign-ins and plan straight away. Highlight clips are removed when their event is deleted or when a report is upheld, except as kept rounds (below). When a host deletes an event, each group's scorecard and clips are kept as a round for the signed-in people who played in that group, on their profiles, where their friends can see them if the host allowed friends to watch. A kept round stays until every one of those players has removed it or deleted their account; then it and its clips are deleted. A clip you post to your profile wall is a separate copy that belongs to your account: it stays after the event is deleted, until you take it down, delete your account, or a report against it is upheld. Photos you post work the same way. A comment stays until its author or the post's owner deletes it, the post is taken down, or a report against it is upheld. Deleting your account removes your posts, and the likes and comments you left on other people's. An event's chat is seen by everyone in that event, under the name you joined with; a message stays until its author or the host deletes it, and the whole chat is deleted with the event — it is never kept with a round.

Your choices

• Use the app without an account.
• Turn notifications off in your phone's settings at any time, or choose, per friend, which of their posts and rounds notify you, from their profile.
• Delete your account from the account page — how to delete your account sets out the steps and exactly what goes and what stays.
• Ask the operator to remove content about you.
• Save a results card to your own photos. It's made on your phone and stays there — saving it doesn't send us anything, and we can't see your photos.

Children

FairwaySync is not directed at children under 13 and we don't knowingly collect their data.
