This page explains how to delete your FairwaySync account and exactly what happens to your data when you do. You don't need to sign in to read it.

How to delete it, in the app

Open FairwaySync and go to Account.
Sign in, if you aren't already.
Scroll to Delete account and tap Delete my account.
Confirm when asked. It happens immediately — there is no waiting period and nothing to email.

If you can't sign in

Ask us to delete it for you. On the account page, scroll to Bugs & suggestions and send a message — it works signed out, so a forgotten password isn't a dead end. Say that you want your account deleted and give the username or the email address you signed in with, so we can find it. We'll confirm when it's done.

What is deleted

Straight away, and permanently:

Your account and username.
Your password hash.
Your Google and Apple sign-in links.
Your active sessions, so every device is signed out.
Your plan record. Cancel the subscription itself in Google Play or the App Store — deleting a FairwaySync account does not cancel billing, because the store holds the subscription, not us.

Notifications are the exception, and deliberately so: a notification token belongs to the phone, not to the account, because you can use FairwaySync without an account at all. Deleting your account therefore doesn't silence a phone that is still in someone's event. Turn notifications off in the app or in your phone's settings to stop them, which removes that device's token.

What is kept, and why

FairwaySync is shared by design: events and leagues belong to the group playing them, not to one person. So some things outlive the account.

Events and leagues you created keep running for the people still in them. Delete them first if you want them gone — a host can delete an event, and a league creator can delete a league, without deleting their account.
A display name already written onto a scorecard stays on it, the same way a name written on a paper card does. It is a name on a score, not a link back to an account that no longer exists.
Highlight clips stay until their event is deleted, or a report against them is upheld, or a host deletes them.
Support messages you sent stay while we need them to answer you.

Live video is never recorded, so there is nothing to delete: it is carried to the people watching and not stored.

Deleting some of your data without deleting your account

You don't have to close the account to remove things:

A host can delete an event, which takes its scores and clips with it.
A host can delete any single highlight clip.
A league creator can delete a league, or remove a player and their rounds.
Turning notifications off removes the token for that device.

Retention

Deletion is immediate rather than scheduled — the rows are removed when you confirm, not queued for later. Database snapshots are taken every 15 minutes and only the most recent eight are kept, so a deleted account ages out of the backups within about two hours. We don't restore deleted accounts from them.
